MEET W.J. WASHINGTON
Certified Events Manager
Willetrea is a native to Pontiac, Mi. who has more than 10 years of association management experience. She got her professional start with the Oakland County Employment Diversity Council (O.C.E.D.C.) as the technical assistant and events coordinator and later as conference director. In 2013, Willetrea launched Washington Events LLC., she continued bolstering her events coordinators resume as Lead Coordinator for the Pontiac Public Library, planning their Annual Teen Snowflake Ball and the Annual Library Anniversary Gala. Provided the opportunity to be hired by Mayor Waterman, on the event committee for the 2018 State of the City Address, City of Pontiac. She has gone on to participate in several political campaigns, fundraisers for the community raising over $23,000.00, and continued support to local non-profits around the city of Pontiac.
In 2018, Willetrea was honored as a Grantee for the Flagstar's Pontiac's Big Idea Grant Program (PBIGP) for small businesses, where she received a $10,000.00 business grant for the expansion of her company. With her combined experience in management, event planning, and marketing – as well as her relationships building and access to resources – Willetrea can offer Washington Events clients with a full menu of provided services. Willetrea is a mother of three (3), enjoys writing poetry, attending networking events, and spending time traveling with family.
MEET EMILY GILBERT
Washington Events Intern
Emily is a native to Pontiac, Mi. who has more than 4 years of event planning and interior design experience. She got her professional start as the Chairman of the Teen Advisory Board with the Pontiac Public Library. In 2015, Emily started volunteering her time as the Lead Event Coordinator for the Pontiac Library Teen Snowflake ball where she helped host for the next three years. Working with Washington Events LLC., she continued to pursue her creative endeavors up until she graduated from the Program as well as High school.
In the Fall, Emily plans to continue her education in Social Media Management and Communications. She is not only a fast learner, energetic spirit but eager to learn, grow, and serious about her future but she is the most kind-hearted and creative mind one could be blessed to work with.
